goals and an update

In my (Christian based) boot camp class, we are discussing goals.
Here are a few of mine:

Be fully awake, and not just "sleepwalking" through life.

Be a contagious Christian. I am being watched, and I am an example of Christ.

Love my beauty as I am today, inside and out.

Fulfill the purpose that the Lord created me for (with excellence!).

Be authentic in all aspects of my life.

Reach a healthy weight and maintain it.

Exercise regularly.

Let go of old hurts and poor choices... I am forgiven and loved.

Be comfortable in my skin, despite the size, age, or clumsiness.

God willing, marry a Godly man and have a child. (Maybe this is more of a prayer than a goal, but it is out there.)

When life is tough or I am tired, resist "going through the motions."

Continually seek The Cross.

When the Lord brings me to my knees, fall willingly and expectantly. "Lead me to Your heart, Lord..."

Recognize the fingerprints of God all over my life and rejoice daily in His blessings.

A couple of you have asked how the boot camp class is going...

Well, I think my goal of a 20 pound weight loss may not have been realistic.
I am no where near that! In fact, so far, I have only lost a few pounds. It is slightly discouraging, as I am working very hard, eating well, and dedicating myself to this commitment.

I have not given up, although, I am fighting leg pain (shin splints). We'll see how it goes tonight. I want to push through the pain, but I don't want to cause any more of an injury.

Despite not dropping the pounds as I had hoped, I DO feel stronger, tighter, and more energetic! I am also not winded when I walk up the stairs! This is a pretty big accomplishment for me. :)

Thank you so much for all of your thoughtful comments, sweet words of encouragement, and sincere prayers. They have helped me stay positive and motivated!

We run again tonight, and have our 3rd fitness test. My goal is to stay positive and perform better than last week.

This is the last full week of class!
I am so proud of myself for not giving up!

What are some of your goals at this point in your life?

Brittany, this is an awesome update and you have phenomenal goals! I know it's hard not to focus on the numbers on the scale -- and I am so incredibly impressed by all the positives you are taking away from the experience. The important thing is that you are moving and being conscious of what you're eating -- so that's moving in the right direction!

Maybe when your class is done, we should be virtual workout buddies?

Hey Brittany,

Great post! I absolutely have to recommend you read a few books (if you haven't already) -

Captivating by John and Stasi Eldridge. This book is life changing. You will learn how Christ sees you as His bride. You are loved and forgiven - but Christ wants to do more...He longs to heal your heart and set you free - from hurts, woundedness, etc. This book will show you how to begin that path.

WarriorChicks by Holly Wagner. This is about being more than an overcomer. It is about becoming a victorious chick. People are watching how you walk thru the things you are going / have been thru. We need to see you be successful so when we go thru it (from weight loss to loss of our spouse) we can look to you and KNOW we can make it too.

Well, that was a long comment! :)

Hugs,
L

Hey girl! Thanks for stopping by : )

Setting goals is so important. I'm doing the same for myself. You know I'm not a religious person, but I admire your conviction. Good for you for sticking with the boot camp!

You can do it! It's a hard road, but a good choice!

Do you do tibia stretches at all? That'll help the shin splits.

Being authentic is such a fabulous goal!

Oouch! Shin Splints!!! I suffered from shin splints alot in high school. I was fairly athletic and nothing was worse than the shooting pain with every step. Mine turned into stress fractures- so be careful and don't over-do it! Take care of yourself first.
