ham, cheddar and green apple panini

This refreshing sandwich is crunchy, tart, and salty.

Ham, Cheddar and Green Apple Panini

1 Sourdough loaf, sliced
1 lb. Black Forest Ham, thinly sliced
1/2 lb. Sharp Cheddar Cheese, sliced
1 Green Apple, cored and thinly sliced
Olive Oil
Panini Press (optional)

Preheat panini press or grill pan.

Lightly brush one side of sourdough slices with olive oil.
Build sandwiches with 3 slices of ham, 2 slices of cheddar, and 2 thin slices of apple.

Grill until golden brown and the cheese is melted.
Let the sandwich rest for 2 minutes, then slice on an angle.
Serve warm.

No panini press?
Use a hot grill pan or skillet. Weigh the sandwich down with a foil-covered brick, or heavy cast iron pan topped with a can of beans as a weight. Flip once.

I'm going to have to try this one soon. Grilled meat/cheese are always great, but add the apple & panini factor & it's bound to be a winner! thanks for sharing.
