baked french onions

Tastes like yummy French Onion Soup...
Hands down, this is my favorite recipe EVER!

Baked French Onions

Sweet Onions (1 per person); for best taste use a Vidalia, Texas 1015, or Mayan Sweet
Beef Bullion Cubes (1 per onion)
Butter, softened
Salt and Pepper
Foil

Preheat oven to 400°.

Trim off ends of onions, and peel. With a potato peeler, cut out a small space in the center of the onions. Quarter the onions, only slicing half way (do not chop through). Stuff a bullion cube in the center of the onion. Cover with softened butter, about 1 1/2 teaspoon per onion. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Wrap each buttery onion, individually, in foil. The foil should be wrapped tightly with a tight twist at the top (see right).
Bake at 400° for 45-50 minutes, or until soft and full of broth.

Serve in the foil pouch, or in a bowl.
